National Philanthropy Day 2012

Each year, the Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Tri-State Chapter (AFPGTS) honors donors and volunteers whose gifts of time, expertise and resources make a significant contribution to the success of the not-for-profit agencies and institutions they serve. Since 1986, the Association of Fundraising Professionals, currently representing more than 27,000 members in 165 chapters throughout the world, has set aside a day known as “National Philanthropy Day®” to recognize the great contributions of philanthropy that enrich our world.

The AFPGTS Chapter seeks to recognize and honor those persons who demonstrate strong contributions to philanthropy in our community. We invite you to nominate worthy individuals and organizations for their role in supporting the causes that mean a great deal to all of us. Nomination forms must be received no later than Friday, May 25th.

Mark your calendars, this year’s annual National Philanthropy Day® Awards Luncheon will be held Thursday, November 15, 2012 at the Grand River Center. Formal invitations will be mailed early October. This luncheon provides a unique occasion for you and your organization to publicly express your appreciation to those who do so much to enhance philanthropic support in our community.

A judging committee, comprised of past honorees, foundation executives, corporate executives, agency directors and other area leaders, will review nominations for the following categories:

Outstanding Individual Philanthropist

Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser

Oustanding Philathropic Organization

Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy

Outstanding Fundraising Professional

The AFPGTS Chapter is also accepting nominations at this time for the Outstanding Professional Fundraiser of the Year. Deadline for submitting this nomination is also Friday, May 25th.  The nomination form and criteria for each award is listed in each category.

This event is truly a celebration of the spirit of giving. Please contact us with any questions by email at afpgts@gmail.com.
